Globsyn Business School (GBS) is a private business school located in Amtala, West Bengal, India. It is India’s first 'Corporate B-School' and a global brand of Globsyn Knowledge Foundation. Programmes offered by GBS include two-year full-time PGDM programmes- PGDM and PGDM- Business Analytics, which are AICTE-approved, and a two-year full-time MBA (Global) in International Business in collaboration with Malaysia University of Science and Technology. GBS is a proud member of the AACSB- International and American Marketing Association (AMA). It also has membership of the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS), All India Management Association (AIMA), Calcutta Management Association (CMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&i).

History

Globsyn Business School was established in 2002 under the competent leadership of visionary founder Bikram Dasgupta. The Dasgupta Family owns and operates the business school, which the Legacy Team oversees. What began as a 10,000-square-foot tiny facility with a small batch of 40 brilliant young minds at Techno Campus evolved into Globsyn Crystals, a cutting-edge contemporary Work Habitat, in 2006. Later, it grew to the magnificent 100,000-square-foot Globsyn Knowledge Campus in Amtala, West Bengal.

Campus

The main campus of GBS is located at Amtala, on the outskirts of Kolkata, spreading across 8 acres of lush greenery. The GBS campus is well-connected with the major points across the city via roadways and railways.

Infrastructure

Hybrid Classroom

Hybrid classrooms improve the remote teaching and learning experience. Students can communicate with teachers, engage in classes, take notes, and relive the actual classroom experience from the comfort of their own homes. One key advantage of hybrid classrooms is their capacity to allow remote involvement for final-semester students who are already placed in different regions of the nation and may be unable to attend their classes in person.

Library

Globsyn features a well-stocked Bird Library including over 5,000 books and journals. There is also a collection of e-catalogs including over one lakh e-books that students may use to aid with their schoolwork. In addition, there is an eLibrary, a digital repository with over 500 books and 100+ videos uploaded weekly.

Study Lounge

The GBS Study Lounge, aka the Nest Lounge, is intended to offer a relaxing environment where students can engage in meaningful discussions. It is outfitted with sofas and bean bags, offering a relaxed atmosphere that differs from regular classrooms. Students can engage in lively conversations and collaborative brainstorming sessions while enjoying recreational activities like table tennis, pool, and board games.

Globsyn Student Home (Hostel)

The Hostel, also known as the Globsyn Student Home, on the GBS campus, is fully operational, providing twin-sharing rooms and all necessary conveniences for a pleasant living experience. Staying in the Globsyn hostel is a great option for students starting their two-year management study at the B-School.

Furthermore, Globsyn Business School also helps students find nearby hostel accommodations if necessary.

Outdoor Sports Facilities

Active engagement in various sports is a top priority on campus. Students have the chance to participate in an array of outdoor sports, including badminton and volleyball. The GBS Campus hosts an exciting four-day sports event, ' Titanium', to promote the notion of 'Serious Fun' among students.

Jonathan’s Cove

GBS students may unwind with a cup of steaming hot coffee or tea, or satiate their appetite with a plate of sandwiches at Jonathan's Cove, the cafeteria. The canteen serves delicious and nutritious meals throughout the day.

Study Hub

There are several dedicated spaces, aka the study hubs, where students can interact with their classmates as well as teachers about various elements of the curriculum and gain a better grasp of the subjects.

Courses

Globsyn Business School offers three postgraduate management courses. Two PGDM programmes are offered- PGDM and PGDM- Business Analytics, approved by AICTE. GBS also offers MBA (Global) programme in International Business in collaboration with Malaysia University of Science and Technology. All the courses run full-time and span 2 years.

PGDM

GBS offers a full-time PGDM programme, spanning 2 years, approved by AICTE. Specializations are offered in finance, marketing, human resources, information systems, and operations management. The course is highly industry-focused and aims to offer students career prospects with renowned companies like Amazon, PwC, Delloite, Asian paints, and others.

The minimum eligibility to enroll in this course is 50% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade in a Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) or its equivalent from a recognized university in India or abroad, and a minimum 50% cut-off in CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT/ATMA.

PGDM- Business Analytics

PGDM- Business Analytics is approved by AICTE, and runs for 2 years. This course aims to facilitate in-depth exposure to the students regarding methodologies and practices of Business Analytics and to prepare them for the emerging needs of industry in the various functional domains.

The minimum eligibility to enroll in this course is 50% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade in a Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) or its equivalent from a recognized university in India or abroad, and a minimum 50% cut-off in CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT/ATMA.

MBA (Global)- International Business

The MBA (Global) program is intended especially for those who want to work internationally. This degree programme, created in collaboration with the Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST), offers a hands-on management education with teaching from foreign faculty members along with in-house teachers. The degree course provides prospective managers with a thorough understanding of the state of the world economy.

Students enrolled in this course have the opportunity to pursue a dual specialty, with one in International Business and the other in one of the following subjects including Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, or Operations Management.

The minimum eligibility to enroll in this course is a Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) or its equivalent and a valid score in exams like  CMAT, CAT, MAT, XAT, or ATMA.

Eligibility Criteria

For PGDM and PGDM-BA programmes, candidates are required to have 50% marks in graduation (10+2+3) with at least a 50% cut-off in one of these entrance exams XAT / MAT / ATMA / CAT/ CMAT.

For admission to MBA (Global) programme, one needs to hold a Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) or its equivalent and must have a valid score in exams like  CMAT, CAT, MAT, XAT, or ATMA.

Admission Process

• To apply for admission to Globsyn Business School, you must meet the criteria listed above, depending on which program is chosen.
• Students must additionally get the qualifying score on at least one of the following admission exams: CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT/ATMA.
• In addition to the educational scores, students must meet the minimum qualifying scores for the Globsyn Admission Test (GAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI).

(Applicants in their final year of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent are also eligible to apply, as long as they can produce evidence of satisfying the minimum eligibility requirements before the deadline specified by the business school.)

Under Beyond Education initiatives, the business school runs 6 programs:

Kalyani Youth Leadership Forum (KYLF)

Bikram Dasgupta founded the Kalyani Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting persons via various humanitarian activities and strengthening them through meaningful interactions. Mr. Dasgupta founded the Kalyani Youth Leadership Forum (KYLF) in cooperation with Globsyn Business School students as part of their management curriculum to further the Kalyani Foundation's aims. KYLF's 'Care for Society' concept allows students to actively engage in social improvement, promoting their development as devoted and empathic managers and more compassionate persons.

EMBRYON

'Embryon,' the entrepreneurship cell of Globsyn Business School, allows GBS students to utilize their theoretical knowledge, ideas, and thoughts to generate potential business concepts during their academic journey. This platform enables GBS students to pitch their business ideas to an independent group of experts, including industry professionals.

Serendipity

Globsyn Business School (GBS) hosts Serendipity as part of its "Beyond Education" effort to offer students practical experience in the workplace. The program is modeled like real-world projects, with distinct teams focusing on finance, marketing, human resources, and operations, among other areas. Students are given the task of managing a successful commercial endeavor, which includes planning and carrying out a multi-day, large-scale event.

Globsyn Management Conference

The Globsyn Management Conference aims to promote intellectual exchange and connection among faculty members working in postgraduate management education. This is accomplished through the organizing of seminars such as Vision Seminars and Research Seminars, as well as the inclusion of the Globsyn Management Journal in the EBSCO library, among other efforts.

Globsyn Alumni Engage (GAE)
